The Space Coast name is inseparable from Cape Canaveral, Kennedy Space Center, and the people who sent spacecraft beyond Earth. But Brevard County history also includes Indigenous communities, citrus growers, fishing families, railroad towns, military installations, surfers, teachers, small businesses, and neighborhoods transformed almost overnight by the space program.

The City of Titusville maintains the excellent Explore Historic Titusville project, and the City of Cocoa Beach publishes a detailed local history timeline. These official resources preserve places and dates. Oral histories add the voices.
