Story Sessions
One hour. One theme. One finished booklet you can hand somebody at Thanksgiving. This is for families who don't want to commission a whole book yet but know the clock is running.
Pick one thing worth keeping
Most families stall out because “write down Dad’s life” is too big to start. So we don’t start there. We pick one thread and pull it all the way through.
- The war years, or the service, or the part he never talks about
- How they met and what the first apartment looked like
- The work — the shop, the launch pad, the classroom, the boat
- The house you grew up in, room by room
- The recipe, and the woman who taught it to her
- The year everything changed
You choose the theme. We build the questions around it and send them ahead of time if the storyteller wants to see them, or keep them a surprise if that works better.
How a session runs
Before. A short call with you, the family member arranging it, to learn who we’re talking to and what you’re hoping to hear. Fifteen minutes.
The hour. A recorded conversation in your home or facility on the Space Coast, or by phone or video anywhere in the United States. It is a conversation, not an interrogation. We follow the memories that light them up.
After. We transcribe, shape it into readable chapters that still sound like them, place your photographs, and design a 15-page booklet. You review it, we fix anything wrong, and then it’s printed.
Two sessions, if one isn’t enough
One session is $399. Two sessions on two themes are $749 and come back as one longer booklet. Every session you buy earns $75 toward your next one, so a family can build this a piece at a time instead of writing one large check.
And if it turns into something bigger, nothing is wasted. The full price of your first session comes off a Mini or Full Legacy Book commissioned within a year.
Why this instead of a subscription service
Automated services email a question every week and file whatever comes back. Nobody edits it. Nobody asks the follow-up. What you get at the end is a stack of raw answers.
A Story Session has a person on the other side who has done this before, knows when to push gently, and knows which forty minutes of the hour are the ones that matter.
What families ask
What does $399 actually include?
A pre-session call to choose the theme and shape the questions, one recorded 60-minute interview in person or by phone, transcription, writing and editing, five to ten of your photographs placed and captioned, and a designed 15-page booklet delivered as a print-ready PDF plus two printed copies.
How long does it take?
Two to three weeks from the interview to the finished booklet. Rush turnaround is available when someone is in hospice or a deadline is real.
What if we want more than one session?
Two sessions on two themes come to $749 and produce a longer combined booklet. Beyond that you're really building a Mini Legacy Book, and we'd rather put your money there.
Does the money carry forward if we want a full book later?
Yes. Every session earns $75 toward your next one, and the full price of your first session comes off a Mini or Full Legacy Book commissioned within twelve months.
Can the interview happen by phone?
Yes. Story Sessions are available nationwide by phone or video, and plenty of storytellers relax more remotely than they do with someone sitting across the table.
What if my parent doesn't want to be interviewed?
Tell them it's an hour, it's one topic, and they can stop whenever they like. Almost nobody stops.
